- Growing up, I read every Nancy Drew book available. My curiosity and imagination carried me page by page as I searched for answers to what had transpired. My curiosity about what happened continues, but on a personal level. I want to solve the mystery of the stories of my family members who lived generations before I was born. Unfortunately, I can only imagine how their stories evolved into mine and the mystery remains. "Heaven Help Mom" saves stories of my current family’s joys, trials and everyday life. Future generations will know the stories behind the names and the personal stories set against the backdrop of this time. My book is a gift of love for those seeking inspiration today, but it is also a gift of love from me to those family members who may one day have the soul of a Nancy Drew. My book Heaven Help Mom is a devotional book chronicling lessons that my children taught me through their everyday activities. It was my intention that readers would look at their families and find the ways that their own children have taught valuable and inspiring lessons.
While this was the original intention, I discovered, while writing ,that I also established a family history through the sharing of these stories. Many readers have told me that they are now inspired to write their own stories derived from family events.
Thus, WriteWordsToInspire will assist people in writing their own family memoirs. Stories told can inspire others and the saving and telling of our life stories can provide a history for future generations.
I remember my Grandma at age 90, sitting on the edge of my son’s sandbox. It is picture that will be among the last to fade from my mind. She lived young, even when her body was aged. Witnessing her spirit was a gift. If I keep it only in my brain and heart, it dies with me. I want that part of her legacy to continue to live. It is difficult for me to think that a few generations from now, she could become just a name with a date and place of birth and death. She had so much more to give the future. Sharing stories of her life will guarantee that others will gain from her living. Whether documenting Grandma’s stories or my children’s stories, the writings will provide insight into our daily lives at the times our lives were lived and may inspire others facing their own times.
